Purpose

Guys, remember the feeling we had when we had these medals put onto us?

Do you remember the joy we had when we overcome our opponents?

Do you remember what pushed us forward towards the podium?

Do you remember what made us "victors" on that day?

Team, do you remember, why we started floorball at the first place?

Yes, we had a purpose... Do you remember that purpose?

We are not playing floorball for the sake of just playing it! We had a vision, a mission, a purpose... What made us victors on that day, team, is our heart! Our heart to glorify His name, to testify in His name! I'm here to remind you guys again why we are playing floorball, to reignite the passion in us we once had!

Remember team, our motto: One team, one body, one heart, one soul, one purpose, one goal!

Wind & Fire

On Pentecost Sunday, I had the privilege to share with my fellow Christians about the coming of the Holy Spirit, and I talked about how the disciples described their experience; "Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent WIND came from heaven and filled the whole house.... They saw what seemed to be tongues of FIRE that saparated and came to rest on each of them."  I was totally blowned away when I read that, even though I have read the same passage many times before. What an amazing experience that must have been for te disciples! What an amazing experience if WE were to experience that ourselves today!

I believe the Holy Spirit manifest Himself in different ways for different people; As we are all created unique, the Holy Spirit spoke to us in ways that is specifically tailored for each of us. Although we may not have experienced the Holy Spirit the way the early disciples experienced Him, that does not mean that we are less a Christian. There may be people who tells us that we MUST feel this way or that way , or that one MUST speak in tongue of fall down senseless when the Holy Spirit fills us, and that if you do not behave that way then there MUST be something wrong or lacking in you. I don't buy that! The Holy Spirit manifested in the way that is appropriate for the disciples then. Just as the Holy Spirit will manifest in ways that is approriate to each of us now. The Holy Spirit fills us so that we are empowered to do God's work, and that empowerment tranlate into a passion to serve God. When we feel the passion for God, the Holy Spirit is within us!

So let us be moved to do great things for God, like a violent WIND!

Lets us burn bright with passion to serve the Lord, like tongues of FIRE!

Thoughts on the Parable of the Talents

"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' Matt 25:21

The mid term exam is upon us and I wish to encourage all those facing the coming test to consider the Parable of the Talents.

God has given all that we have. In fact God has given us far more than we realised. We constantly discover that we have hidden talents as we explore and expanded our horizons. As students, we should be expanding and extending our potential in acquiring knowledge. As it is written in Proverb 18: 15 "The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.", our responsibilities as students is to acquire knowledge while at the same time seek the wisdom from God to apply the knowledge. The question is this: Have we optimised our God given talents in our studies?

It is important to remember that while we glorify His name through our successes in sports, arts and music, we also bear testimony to God through excellence in our studies.

May God bless you with wisdom and dilligence as you prepare for your exam.

Straining Ahead

I feel a touch of melancholy that 2011 PFA league has come to a close. You have all played well and with a great deal of heart. I salute you, Gladiators.

The spirited competition that marks all our matches in Div II and the sportmanship that Gladiators have displayed both on and of the court has been exemplary but now we must move forward as we have a greater goal ahead. As Apostle Paul said:

"But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus"
Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)

So let us press on to win the ultimate prize for which we are called into this ministry. Let us prepare ourselves by training harder, improving knowledge, perfecting our skills and teamwork, so that we may be worthy to be known as God's Army.

There is much that we must improved upon: In the sport of Floorball, we must improve our individual skills, stamina and game knowledge; While as a team we need to work on communication, tactical thinking and mutual support.

Similarly in the journey of discipleship, we must strive to know God and His plan for each of us. We are not here or at this place and this time by accident for God choose each of us even before creation (Eph 1:4) and He has a special purpose for us. Let us be equiped with the armor of God (Eph 6:16-17) so that when we are called to serve that purpose, we are ready and able.

My goal for this year would be to buiid a third line of Gladiators and start an all girls team in preparation for 2012. We will start registration for new players immediately so please bring your friends to the next practice at 5-7pm on 29th May (Sun).

One Team, One Body, One Heart, One Soul, One Purpose, One Goal.

God bless you all,

Coach Daniel

The Race

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.

We have overcome great odds to be where we are. Now we face our final challenge, will we end our race as we have begun? Are we not Christ soldiers? Let us take up the sword and spread His word. Let us fight so that we may Glorify Him. Let us be one in brotherhood and the world shall know that we are His disciples.

Onward Christian Brothers!

Take Courage

Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.”
Ezra 10:4

As Christians, we face adversities as a matter of course; Some may falter and fell by the way side, beaten. But no, not us! For we have God our Father who received us with open arms, if only we would return. God is ever merciful to those who came before Him in repentance and submission. Let Christ be our commander and we shall be victorious. So Take Courage and Do It!

Teamwork

 Vince Lombardi

Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work. ~Vince Lombardi

What a great practice last night!

We can finally feel the flow of team play, PTL! Both line have improved tremendously over the last few weeks and have started to gelled together into effective fighting unit. However, we have yet to internalized positioning ourselves in support of our team mates. This will take a bit more time and constant reminders between ourselves. Let us commit to each other, just as we committed ourselves to God, to support and raise our performance as a team.

May all Glory, Power and Majesty be to GOD our Father!

 Coach Daniel

About Commitment

John D. Rockefeller, Jr.

"I believe that every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; every possession, a duty." John D. Rockefeller, Jr.

To be part of a team is a privilege, when we accepted the honor as a member of such a team, we assume a responsibilty to the team and it's members. Being part of a team sometimes requires individual sacrifices. It is not about the game, or the match or even the competition; What it's about is commitment to each other; Where one can depend on the other to stay committed to a common course.

I leave you with this quote:

"There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstance permit. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results."

May God bless you all.

Coach Daniel

Keep On Running

Ecclesiastes 9:11, "I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all."

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running. Fight On Gladiators!
